You also must sit for the exam in person and under the supervision of the DC DMV staff. Generally, a test taker needs 15-45 minutes to complete all questions on the test.

7. What Happens If I Fail My District of Columbia Permit Test?

If you fail your DC permit test, you must wait three days before you can retake the test. You can retake the exam on the 4th day. In case you fail the knowledge test six times within a year, you won’t be permitted to sit for the 7th test until one year after the date when you failed the test.
